what a week! from the midweek mini trip to bern to submit my portfolio, an improvised folk concert on friday evening, cocktail testing (grapefruit, elderflower and gin? mmmh!) to saying goodbye to a friend moving to canada and a movie that made me think about the world we live in and how lucky i am, it was a busy one. not to mention the partial solar eclipse! the thing that struck me most about the whole spectacle wasn’t the visible disappearance of the sun, but how cold it suddenly got. and to think that the immediate change in temperature was caused only by the moon blocking part of the sun for a few minutes…kinda creeps me out.
the creepiness and the fact that spring has decided to wait a little longer to bless basel with its appearance made me crave something comforting. thus, although not a classic casserole dish: cinnamon rolls! not just ordinary cinnamon rolls, though. nooooo. chocolate and coffee cinnamon rolls. or, as their creator calls them: quick and dirty chocolate espresso cinnamon rolls. how good does that sound?! i knew the moment i stumbled over the recipe that they were the ones. i made a few changes here and there, but generally followed joy’s instructions. and let me tell ya – they were soulsqueezingly good!
